These two associations have carried out the modernisation of two hospitals in Myeick, in Myanmar.
The Fondation Avenir Finance has financed, for an amount of 25 000 €,
the building of two water wells enabling to supply the sensitive areas of both hospitals
(surgical units, delivery rooms, intensive care and nurse quarters). The work is completed since May 2007 and both hospitals benefit from a continuous water supply.

In 2006 – 1001 fontaines pour demain – Cambodia
|
" 1001 fontaines pour demain " allows poor and
isolated populations to have access to drinking water. For that purpose,
the association finances and builds small local water sanitation units.

Explaining to the villagers

These units are then taken care of by local "small private operators" who sell the now drinkable water.
This way, the system's durability is guaranteed.
The Fondation Avenir Finance has chosen to support this association
by financing the setting up of water treatment
units in three Cambodian villages for a total amount of 45 000 €.
These three units are part of an equipment program for eight additional villages.
This program was launched in July 2006. Since January 2007,
the "small private operators'" water sales represent, depending on the village,
between 600 and 900 litres per day. From the very first day, around 3.500 villagers
have been benefiting
from a totally healthy water for less than one euro cent per litre.
Each time a production centre opens in a village, specialists conduct education campaigns.
These often take place in schools. The aim of the campaigns is to teach families
the basics of hygiene and the importance of drinking safe water,
rather than... water from the pond.
On the 20th of February 2007, the association "1001 fountains for tomorrow"
was awarded the "2006 Prize of International Solidarity" by the High Council of
International Cooperation for this specific project. This prize rewards, every year,
an exemplary accomplishment in terms of North/South cooperation.
In November 2007, at the time of the world congress of the Junior Chamber International, Chay Lo, cofounder of the
association "1001 fontaines pour demain" was honored in company of nine other international award winners
as one of the "10 most remarkable young people on the planet".
In September 2007, we went on site to visit six villages. It is with pride and emotion that we realized the importance
of the accomplishments and the immediate benefit for the people.
